SEO and get to Google Page 1 Quickly!
In this posting I want to share with you some basic instructions I have learned from my SEO team of experts to enable you to get your website positioned up the rankings on Google and maybe even get on page 1. But first if I say you need to SEO your website, what does it actually mean and how can you achieve it?
SEO means Search Engine (Google Yahoo Bing) Optimization or in laymans terms, its basically giving your website the optimum chance to appear high up on a search engine result. It is not a one off task but rather a series of ongoing actions over a period of time. It does not need to be smoke and mirrors or shrouded in mystery. All you need to do is take the following steps immediately and then repeat them and build on them:
1) Decide on one main target keyword/phrase which is relevant to your niche market. Don’t go too specific straight away. For example think of something like, Web Design Sunshine Coast Australia not simply Web Design.
2) Use this keyword phrase and type it into google and see where your website comes up. Make a note of what page your site appears on assuming you have a listing somewhere (maybe not possible if your a brand new site). This is a marker to see where your starting position is.
3) Use this keyword phrase and type it into the Page Title of your Home Page.
4) Carefully place your keyword phrase in the body of your content on the home page. Look to have it appear at the beginning of the text and also the middle and towards the end. Making sure that you do not lose value for the reader.
5) Type the keyword phrase into the ALT text of any images that appear on your home page.
6) Make sure and have a sitemap page on your website. On your home page create a link to the sitemap page.
7) First use Yahoo Site Explorer and make a note of how many inbound links you have. Create a link on every page of your site pointing back to your Home Page and use your keywords in the Anchor Text of these links.
Now ask all friends who you know have a website, to add a link back to your site from their site. Make sure and let them know how you want the Anchor Text to appear by giving them your keyword phrase.
9) Now you are good to submit your website to a number of online directories. Any links will be ok for now, reciprocal or otherwise, we just want Google to see your site is getting hits. Always use your keywords as the link back to your site.
10) You need to write an article of approx 300words which offers advice or tips in the area of your keyword phrase relating to your niche market. Then submit this article to as many article directories and distribution sites as you can.
11) ‘Content is King’ and all search engines love fresh content so try and add a few lines of new content every week. The best way to do this is to post new blogs posts and have a link to the home page for each new article title. Even add a new page of content specific to your business ensuring keyword rich links back each time to the home page.
12) Finally you need to try and add at least 5-10 new inbound links every week to your site from now on. By posting in forums specific to your niche you will be able to achieve this.
After a few weeks, check your position on Google. You should find that your position has drastically improved. It may still not be on page one however, if you diligently follow these steps each week, focusing on the home page firstly, then it will not be long until you see the rewards of your efforts. In time you can repeat this whole process with each and every page.
Obviously the more competitive your keywords, the longer it may take to get on the 1st Page of Google but again the more you practice the better your results will be.
